2013 Science and Innovation Awards Open

Grant applications are now open for the 2013 Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. If you’re 18–35, this is your chance to apply for up to $22,000 to fund your project on an innovative or emerging scientific issue to benefit Australia’s primary industries.

Youth Development Officer

Youth Development Officer, Kylie Hruz, provides youth services to Greater Hume, Lockhart, and Urana Shires working effectively with young people to enhance their health and wellbeing, and provide them with opportunities to contribute to the community.

The position aims to:

  • Increase the recreational/entertainment facilities for young people in Greater Hume, Lockhart and Urana Shires.
  • Incorporate the needs of young people into the development of public places (eg: open spaces, town centres, community and recreation centres).
  • Increase access to community activities and services for young people in Greater Hume, Lockhart and Urana Shires.
  • Use youth organisations and other youth service providers to consult with and resource young people on issues regarding public places.
  • Establish consultation strategies with local youth.
  • Coordinate the promotion of healthy relationship programs that address bullying in schools and other identified needs.
  • Develop programs that will engender community and connectedness thereby leading to reduced vandalism and malicious damage.

  • Youth Group CYCO (Culcairn Young Citizen Organisation)

  • Film Workshops
  • Motivational media program for schools
  • Youth week activities
  • Young Mothers Program in Culcairn
  • National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) week activities.
