Motorists advised to slow down in Greater Hume

Motorists are advised to slow down through the Greater Hume area with speed limits changes being introduced as part of an ongoing speed review program. A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the review assessed a number of factors including roadside environment, traffic patterns, intersection locations and crash data.

“As a result of the review, the 100 km/h speed zone on Culcairn-Holbrook Road will be decreased to 80 km/h for a length of 550 metres to a point 600 metres west of Purtell Street at Morven,” the spokesperson said.
“The 100 km/h speed zone at Jindera on Hueske Road-Bungowannah Road, from the Urana Road intersection to 100 metres south of Jelbart Road, will also be decreased to 80 km/h to improve road user safety. Glenholm Estate (off Hueske and Jelbart Roads) warrants the introduction of a 50km/h speed limit which will take affect at the same time.
“These changes will provide speed limits consistent with the surrounding road environments and will complement recent road work and development.”
The spokesperson said the review was part of an ongoing speed zone review program and in response to a request from Greater Hume Council.
“Signs will be progressively installed to advise motorists of the changed traffic conditions but road users are asked to keep an eye out for the changes and follow the direction of all signs.”
Community members can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area.
The new signs will be installed by the 12 July.
