Water Restrictions

Stage 3 Water Restrictions (APPLY NOW)

 

Residential & Commercial Gardens

A garden must not be watered except within the hours of  7am to 9 am and 4pm to 6pm (6 am to 8 am and 6pm to  8pm throughout daylight saving period) on designated days using:

  • A hand held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle
  • A manually operated permanently installed  irrigation system (dripper, sprinkler or microspray)

An automatic permanently installed irrigation system can be used only between the hours of midnight and 4 am on designated days. Note: ‘Automatic’ means the system automatically starts and stops itself. 

 

Designated Days

  • EVEN numbered properties – Designated days are Saturday and Tuesday
  • ODD numbered properties – Designated days are Sunday and Wednesday
  • Properties without numbers – Designated days are Saturday and Tuesday

 

Lawns

  • Watering of lawns at any time using the town water supply is prohibited
  • Watering of lawns can only be done using an alternative water supply

The use of products screwed to the end of a hose for lawn maintenance, such as ‘weed and feed’, is not permissible.

 

Washing Cars

Water must not be used to clean vehicles except by means of a bucket filled directly from a tap and ONLY for the purposes of:

  • Cleaning of a vehicle’s windows mirrors and lights
  • Spot removing of corrosive substances

 

Residential or Commercial Swimming Pool or Spa

  • A new or existing swimming pool or spa of any capacity can not be filled. However, it can be filled using an alternate water source to the town water supply (Note: Pool owners and companies must provide evidence that water has been obtained from an alternate water source).
  • An existing swimming pool or spa may be topped up by means of a watering can or bucket filled directly from a tap (and not by means of a hose) but only on designated days and within designated times.Note: to top up an existing pool or spa it must be at least 75% full.

 

ON MONDAY, THURSDAY AND FRIDAY NO WATERING IS PERMITTED

 

These apply now  for the following towns:

Brocklesby

Burrumbuttock

Gerogery

Gerogery West

Jindera

Others connected to the Villages Water Scheme

It was resolved by Greater Hume Shire Council at the July 2009 Council Meeting that water restrictions for the residents connected to the Villages Water Scheme be aligned with restrictions implemented by Albury City Council. Stage 1 Water Restrictions (APPLY NOW)

For Domestic and Commercial Landscape Gardens

You can use:

Fixed Sprinklers and Sprays        -         BEFORE 10am and AFTER 5pm on any day

Handheld Hoses                            -        Can be used at any time of day

Dripper Systems                             -        Are allowed at any time on any day
 

These apply from 15 July 2009 for the following towns:

Culcairn

Henty

Holbrook

Morven

Walbundrie

Walla Walla

Woomargama

Others connected to the Riverina Water County Council Water Scheme

It was resolved by Greater Hume Shire Council at the July 2009 Council Meeting that water restrictions for the residents connected to the Culcairn Water Supply be aligned with restrictions implemented by Riverina Water County Council.  Please click here to obtain a printed copy of Stage 1 Water Restrictions.


 
Residents using recycled water, grey water, rainwater or water collected in a dam are NOT included in these restrictions. It is suggested that residents using the above water sources publicly display a sign stating where the water has been sourced.
