Tourism in Greater Hume Shire

Welcome to tourism in the Greater Hume Shire, there is much to experience.

  • our history at museums in Culcairn, Henty, Holbrook and Jindera.

  • our environment at the Wirriminna Environmental Education Centre in Burrumbuttock, Gum Swamp at Walla Walla, National Parks at Woomargama and Benambra, Bird Trails, Hume and Hovell Track and award winning Landcare projects.

  • the hospitality of our larger communities at  Brocklesby, Burrumbuttock, Culcairn, Gerogery, Henty, Holbrook, Jindera, Morven, Walbundrie, Walla Walla,   and  Woomargama along with our smaller communities of Bowna, Carabost, Cookardinia, Lankey’s Creek, Mullengandra, Talmalmo and Wymah, all with a character of their own.

  • accommodation we provide from country pubs to quality motels or caravan parks to bed and breakfast/farm host providers in country towns or farms throughout the Shire.

  • our picturesque landscape, from the mountains to the plains, travel along our many country roads and enjoy the natural landscapes we have to offer or climb Morgan's Lookout to see the contract in scenery or just enjoy a picnic by a billabong under the shade of a gum tree.

  • our unique icons like the HMAS Otway Submarine, Headlie Header, Wymah Ferry, Walla Walla Wagon, many travelling stock routes used by drovers of yesteryear, Henty Man, Arvo Anson landing site as well as the Cobb and Co stopovers.

Our location on both the Hume and Olympic Highways, proximity to airports in both Albury and Wagga Wagga and access to the Great Southern Railway means that there is easy access for travellers.
There is a range of accommodation options and attractions on offer in the Shire that makes us far too good to just drive through!
