The Rural Fire Service Cadet Championships, Holbrook

NSW Firies focus on ‘Protect and Connect’

100 Cadet Rural Firefighters and Adult Firefighters will gather at the Holbrook Equine and Race course on the weekend of 12-13 OCTOBER  2019 for the Rural Fire Service Association’s (RFSA) and Rural Fire Service “Protect and Connect” Cadet Championships. The championship is designed to test the secondary school cadets and junior members in their firefighting skills as used in the field.

Events this year are designed around a protect and connect theme - two components that are so often linked for NSW Rural Fire Service members. Implicit in this theme is the role young members can play in protecting and connecting with their local communities and also the vital importance of young members’ attention to safety, health and fitness in their own protection.

Teams are coming from Wagga Wagga, Bega, Eden, Griffith, Bowral, and Young to challenge our local cadets from Howlong, Thurgoona, Corowa, and Tabletop - in all 14 teams some of which are secondary school based. All participants aged between 12-18 years will be tested in their leadership, practical skills and competency to the basic firefighter level.

The public are invited and encouraged to attend and support these young members in their community service. Attendance is free and competition commences at 10.30 am Saturday 12 October 2019 and finishes at 2:00 pm Sunday 13 October 2019.

Come along and support those young members who sometime in the future will protect you. After all they are the future emergency services workers.
