Taste

In the heartland of Australian agriculture, it’s no surprise that this area is famous for its fresh produce. And while much of the local fare eventually finds its way to tables around Australia (and the world!), it’s easy to cut out the middleman and enjoy farm-fresh food and locally-produced wines right here.

With pubs in almost every town and village – including many dating from the 1880s and 90s – and cafes dotting the main streets, it’s easy to find fresh local food throughout the region. Ask the friendly staff about local ingredients and enjoy the best of the best. From dining in grand surrounds at the Culcairn Hotel and Henty’s Doodle Cooma Arms, to classic pub food and café meals across the shire, you certainly won’t go hungry!

But it’s not all food! Spend some time at Flyfaire Winery and be tempted by the handcrafted cool-climate riesling, chardonnay and full-bodied merlot. Set alongside the idyllic Woomargama National Park, Flyfaire is a family owned business that produces high altitude wines utilising low carbon methods.
