What to do in Greater Hume in March

With the cooler wind blowing and the sun shining brightly, we know we love heading outdoors for a beautiful picnic and the odd adventure.

There are plenty of places for an amazing picnic to choose from in Woomargama National Park. Why not try the Tin Mines or Samual Bollard picnic and camping areas. From here you can surround yourself with gorgeous flowers and wildlife and take a walk up to North lookout to soak in the view of our region.

Morgan's Lookout near Walla Walla is an ideal picnic spot with a great history. Learn about the bushranger Dan Morgan and how he used this fantastic lookout as a vantage point to watch for approaching police as you soak in the views and enjoy some quality time with family. Why not double down on this history and turn it into a road trip? Head out towards Culcairn to see John McLean’s memorial and then circle round to Henty to visit Sergeant Smyth’s memorial.

Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre in Burrumbuttock houses a beautiful picnic spot in their 4-hectare park. The gardens and woodland contain many locally rare native shrubs, wildflowers and grasses that attract a range of animals and the picnic tables are situated next to a picturesque dam where you can feel tranquil and relaxed, immersed in our natural environment.
