What to do in Greater Hume this October

As spring unfolds its warm embrace across Greater Hume, October brings forth the anticipation of delightful adventures during the school holidays and the much-anticipated long weekend for everyone to enjoy.

If you are looking to take the kids on an exciting adventure then Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre in Burrumbuttock is a great option.
Established in 1995, Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre is set on an old stock reserve and public watering place. As you walk around the 4-hectare park, you will pass a large dam, wetlands, natural woodland and native garden beds. These features offer a great diversity of native plants and wildlife habitat found in Box-Gum grassy woodlands. The picnic tables are situated next to a picturesque dam where you can feel tranquil and relaxed, immersed in a natural environment whilst having a bite to eat.

While your at it, Morgan's Lookout near Walla Walla is an ideal destination with a great history. Learn about the bushranger Dan Morgan and how he used this fantastic lookout to his advantage as you soak in the views and enjoy some quality time with family.

If walking with the kids interests you then why not try;

The Culcairn Bike and Walking Trail - it allows you to explore historic Culcairn as you cycle or walk your way through town. Visitors of all ages can embark on the entire 7km loop track, or there are plenty of opportunities to take on smaller sections. With plenty of rest spots along the way, and timber sleepers for seating, this trail will suit all levels of fitness.

Take a drive over to Holbrook to finish your day and try out the Ian Geddes Bush Walk. This lovely, tranquil bushland walk follows the Ten Mile Creek away from the main street. The entrance features a shelter with a map of the walk and the names and pictures of the birds which you are likely to observe as you meander along the trail. The walk can comfortably be completed in half an hour. Ian Geddes Bushwalk is located on the Western side of the highway, behind Grimwood's Craft Store and the Woolpack Inn Museum.

Don't forget to check out all the incredible playgrounds we have within our towns, there are some great designs and ones that you my not have realise existed!

Great food, a refreshing drink and country hospitality, doesn't get much better!

For more of an adult getaway lunch or a romantic date how does a tipple of some organic wine paired with delicious local produce all while looking over at a beautiful scenic backdrop sound?
