What to do in Greater Hume this May

If you are planning to treat your mum this Mother's Day, Greater Hume has everything you need to make her day special. If you are in search of a last minute gift or if your mum enjoys shopping, there are a variety of options for you. Treat her to a shopping day trip or even a weekend getaway if she is a dedicated shopper and loves to also take in the incredible local attractions along the way! Explore our charming bookshops and op shops, discover local artwork at galleries, or find that ideal décor piece at one of our gift shops!

Explore the landscape and soak up the atmosphere in our towns and villages as you fill your car with bargains, pre-loved clothes, and original artworks. A loop would take you through Culcairn, Henty, Holbrook, Gerogery, Jindera and Walla Walla.
  • Your first stop - Culcairn! This would lead you to some beautiful shops such as Hub 'n' Hive, Curiouser n Curiouser and the Culcairn Craft Shop.
  • Henty will show you to a variety of stores like Judy's Bazaar, Doodle Cooma Craft Shop and Henty Creative Gallery.
  • A stop in Holbrook may leave your arms full of goodies from Hello Maude, Holbrook News and Gifts, Satch and Co, Lea_Bic Photography, Holbrook Paddock Eggs or from Lady Gail's Bookshop and Curios and Glenross Antiques! Don't forget to check out Bella Lou while you are in town also.
  •  A pit stop at the Gerogery Hotel for lunch may be just what Mum needs after that busy morning of shopping and driving and after a visit to the Riverina Hamper Co.
  • Jindera will allow you to get your Op Shop fix as well as that afternoon coffee at The Fox & Brew.
  • Your Final stop in Walla Walla will take you to the beautiful Walla Walla Water Tower Mural for your art fix and a touch of nature!

Be sure to pack an afternoon supper and picnic blanket in the car and treat mum to a delicious experience with a view at one of our spectacular picnic spots!
  • There are plenty of places to choose from in Woomargama National Park. The Tin Mines Picnic area may be of choice or the beautiful new Yambla View 'Wambariga' Lookout off Hanel's Road, Woomargama within the National Park. From here you can take in and soak up the incredible view of our region.
  • Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre in Burrumbuttock houses the perfect picnic spot in their 4 hectare park. The gardens and woodland contain mainly locally rare native shrubs, wildflowers and grasses that attract a range of animals. The picnic tables are located next to the picturesque dam where you can sit back feel relaxed and enjoy the natural environment surrounding you.
  • Morgan's Lookout, Walla Walla is an ideal picnic location with the added historic story. Learn about the bushranger Man Dan Morgan and how he used this lookout to his advantage as you soak in the vies and enjoy that perfect quality time with family.
There really is something for all to enjoy their Mothers Day and we hope you can spend it in Greater Hume!
