As Autumn is starting to break through its colours, we find the lingering warmth of summer days giving way to the cooler crisp air of the coming season. Greater Hume is on the cusp of welcoming much needed rain, refreshing our surroundings and lifting our community spirits. This change in weather invites us all to step outside and enjoy the vibrant communities around us.

Follow the trail located in the Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre and discover interactive music making, solar powered constellations created by local primary school students, and to even take a selfie in your very own hot air balloon.

Bird enthusiasts or those simply seeking a tranquil day trip will find Greater Hume's array of locations for birdwatching very enticing. Our region is dotted with prime spots that showcase a diverse range of native bird species, set against the backdrop of our stunning natural scenery. A designated loop drive has been carefully planned so that you can embark on this journey from any point that suits your itinerary, ensuring flexible and enriching experiences as you travel through the heart of Greater Hume.

The total loop takes approximately four hours to drive, though you are also recommended to allocate additional time to pause along the way to explore and enjoy your journey.

The locations we have outlined for you offers more than just a journey through Greater Hume's natural beauty, it is a path that winds through our region's largest towns, ensuring easy access to food and rest stops along the way. This route is not only convenient it also allows you to perfectly spot some of the most beautiful birds our area has to offer.

If you are up for a full day trip then the Mountains to the Plains Expedition is just for you! This stunning drive takes you in the mountains, national parks, and the formative stretches of the Murray River in the south-east, whilst going through the rolling hills, gentle slopes, and grassy plains as you move further north and west.
