Council News from the July Meeting

At the July Council meeting some key decisions for our community were made.

At the meeting Council resolved to –

  • Advocate for the immediate declaration of drought as a natural disaster, with 100% of the Greater Hume Council area recognised by NSW DPI as drought affected.  Request immediate relief funding and freight subsidies for local farmers, by writing to the relevant Ministers and collaborate with the Mayors of Snowy Valleys, Cootamundra/Gundagai, Yass & Wagga Wagga Councils to deliver the NSW Southern Drought Summit on 4 August 2025 and continue to advocate for our united communities.
  • Endorse events funding for the 2025-2026 period with applications opened to the community 1 August 2025. More information in regards to this event funding will be released prior to 1 August.
  • Adopt the Audit Risk and Improvement Committee Four Year Strategic Workplan and Annual Workplan, Risk Management Plan and Internal Audit Charter.
  • Place the amended draft Fees and Charges 2025-2026 for OSHC for After School Care, Before School Care and Vacation Care on public exhibition and accept submissions until 14 August 2025. The amended draft Fees and Charges will be placed on public exhibition from next week.
  • Adopt the Road Opening Policy. This policy will be available for viewing on Councils website next week.
