Jindera Throws Open Its Garages for the Region’s Biggest Community Sale

The Jindera Community Garage Sale returns on Sunday 19 April 2026, with residents to take part in what has become the largest Community Garage Sale in the border region.

First coordinated by the Jindera Museum in 1999, followed by volunteers with St Mary’s Jindera for a further 19 years. The event was later proudly handed over to Rural Care Link Inc., who continue to coordinate the event today.

From humble beginnings of around 40 garage sale sites, the event has grown to between 70 and 80 participating households across Jindera. The event is becoming not only a huge social occasion but also one of the region’s biggest recycling events — keeping quality goods out of landfill while connecting neighbours and visitors alike. The event provides residents with a fantastic opportunity to declutter, as well as turn unwanted goods into cold hard cash.

Those visiting for the day are encouraged to set their alarms, with seasoned bargain hunters known to arrive before the official 8:00am start. By mid-morning, the township buzzes with activity as visitors explore the wide variety of goods on offer — from household treasures to unexpected finds.

Residents of Jindera are invited to register their property as a sale site. With the growth of new housing areas, updated maps will include additional estates this year, making it easier than ever for shoppers to explore every corner of the community. Site bookings can be made through the Rural Care Link website – those interested can follow the QR Code link to the website to pay a $15 registration fee. This fee ensures all sites are printed and marked on maps available on the day for $2 from the Rural Care Link Op Shop.

Over the years, the event has been supported by generous local sponsors, including a decade of support from Ray White Real Estate and ongoing assistance from Jindera Post Office, who have helped facilitate bookings and promotion. A full list of 2026 sponsors will be published in the May edition of the Jindera News and shared via Facebook.
