Council News from the April 2025 Meeting

At the April Council meeting some key decisions for our community were made.

At the meeting Council resolved to –

  • Endorse the Greater Hume Council Community Strategic Plan 2025 -2035. The final Plan is available here on Councils website
  • Execute the lease between WAW Credit Union and Greater Hume Council to formalise the occupancy of the building at 76 Commercial Street, Walla Walla.
  • Place the draft Safe Arrival and Transportation of Children Policy – Centre Based Care on public exhibition for 28 days. This is a new policy that outlines Greater Hume Children Services’ standards to ensure the safe transportation of children enrolled in our Services. Click here to have your say on the policy.
  • Approve the proposed road names, Bethlehem and Katarina for use in Jindera Street, Jindera Subdivision and place the names on public exhibition for 28 days. The exhibition period will begin this week.
  • Approve the proposed road names. Mickan, Zilius and Schroeter for use in Commercial Street, Walla Walla Subdivision and place the names on public exhibition for 28 days. The exhibition period will begin this week.
  • Place the proposed naming of the bridge over Wantagong Creek to Oliver Killalea Bridge on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. The exhibition period will begin this week.
  • Place the Bushfire Prone Land Map and Draft Bushfire Mapping Policy on exhibition for 28 days. The Bushfire Prone Land Map has been updated to include bushfire prone vegetation and grassland areas and the purpose of the policy is to formalise Council’s commitment to regularly review and update the Bushfire Prone Land Map every five years, in line with legislative requirements and best practice risk management. The exhibition period will begin this week.
  • Adopt the variation of the scope for the Greater Hume Council Settlement Strategy in order to incorporate the expansion of industrial land and employment opportunities within Jindera.
  • Place the Greater Hume Shire Council Section 7.12 Local Infrastructure Contribution Plan 2025 on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. This works schedule within this Plan has been updated, outlining the projects that are proposed to be funded from these contributions. The exhibition period for the Plan will begin this week.
