Greater Hume Mayor, Lea Parker is encouraging locals and visitors to explore the Greater Hume region this Winter by experiencing our history and heritage and warmth of our local hospitality.
Embrace the warmth and history waiting for you inside our captivating Museums. Take a journey through time as you dive into our past stories. Visit museums, which range from agricultural innovations and submarines to early Scottish and German pioneering history.
- The Station House Museum in Culcairn, is a tangible reminder of the great railway expansion of the last century with early railway memorabilia on display inside the original two-story brick building.
- A stop in Henty will take you to quite a few Museums. The Headlie Taylor Header Museum and Ed's Old Farm Machinery Museum will give you a great insight into the agricultural history of the area. Also in Henty, the Observer Printery Museum will take you back in time with a collection of printing memorabilia and so much more.
- In Holbrook you can step back in time and experience the pioneering past in the Woolpack Inn Museum, as well as the stunning collection of 19th and early 20th century Australian Pottery at the National Museum of Australian Pottery. Don’t forget to find out why there is a Submarine in the middle of a town 400kms away from the nearest ocean as you dive into the Submarine Museum.
- The Jindera Pioneer Museum will give you a window into our German heritage and life on the land over 150 years ago. Spread over two acres of lovely grounds, with over 25 rooms and galleries, see the impressive collection of shop articles, furniture and household goods.
