Riverina Water Community Grants Program

Published on 28 January 2022

Riverina Water is offering $500,000 in funding for projects that make a difference to local communities across its supply area.

Applications for the County Council’s Community Grants Program are now open, with funding ranging from $1000 up to $20,000 across three categories – Community Projects & Facilities, Arts & Culture and Water Conservation.

“So far this program has injected a staggering $1M into the southern Riverina region, making more than a hundred local projects possible,” Riverina Water CEO Andrew Crakanthorp said.

“The purpose of the grants program is to support a wide range of community projects and activities that enrich the lives of people throughout our supply area.

“Applications for our third program are now open and we strongly encourage groups, clubs, educational institutions and schools to download the grant guidelines for eligibility and put their hat in the ring for a share in $500,000.”

Based on feedback from previous years, Rural Fire Services are also eligible to apply for funding.

To date the program has funded a diverse range of projects such as water tower murals, scoreboards at sportsgrounds, school gardens, vital upgrades at community facilities, multicultural art projects and First Nations programs.

Funding allocations for each Council are $200,000 for Wagga Wagga City Council, and $100,000 each for Lockhart Shire, Greater Hume and Federation.

“Our network stretches over four local government areas, going from north of Wagga to Humula, down to Woomargama, across to Oaklands and up to Morundah,” Mr Crakanthorp said.

“We have specific funding pools set aside for each council area in our supply boundary, so communities of all sizes can benefit from this program.”

Applications close 9am, Friday 25 February 2022. Successful grants will be awarded at the April meeting of Riverina Water’s Board.
